1 Thing You MUST NOT Neglect
“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25
The writer of Hebrews was telling his readers almost 2000 years ago to NOT neglect meeting together with the believers (AKA, going to church). Way back then some people had developed the habit of just not going to the “meeting”.
It has always been critical for the believer to be active, committed and involved in a church. But in that verse he also lets us know that as important as it was 2000 years ago, it's importance would not be static and remain the same. The seriousness of church attendance would escalate with the passing of time.
He says “especially”, or “all the more”, as you see the day of Jesus' return getting closer. The more we see evidence that we are moving toward the return of Jesus, the more critical meeting TOGETHER with other believers becomes.
There are trends and teachings that minimize the importance of church attendance. The new “regular” attender reportedly goes to church 1 or 2 times per month. Many are now considering online church the same as being in a meeting. To fall into those mindsets is to disregard this instruction from the Word of God.
ALL THE MORE as the day of his return is drawing near.
This is THE most critical time in all of history for people to be in church. This coming Sunday will be more important for you to be in church than any other Sunday in history. The next Sunday will be even more important.
Don't make excuses. Don't put it off. Jesus return is drawing near. Make it a higher priority than ever before for you and your family to be planted in God's house.
